For the Love of Carp... Fish "Carpalooza"

If ever there were a flyfishing tournament that really measures the grit and skill of a champion... wait... scratch that... those don't exist. But here is a "tournament" that happens for all the right reasons, namely fun, friendship, and a benefit cause.
The fifth annual Carp Classic, a.k.a. "Carpalooza" is scheduled for May 15 and 16 at the Blackfoot Reservoir (out in the middle of nowhere) in southeastern Idaho. It's a campout. You need an Idaho fishing license. The registration fee is $25, and there will be prizes for big fish, a women's division, etc. Most importantly, this year the event will benefit a college fund. If you're interested we can get you more details on the event.

In fact, if you're really interested, give us a comment here on the virtues of carp, and flyfishing for carp, and Fly Talk will pay your registration (for the best comment). You and two pals can be "Team Fly Talk" at Carpalooza. But we need to know you'll represent us well... boggin' around in the mud and chasing carp.

WOW
...a picture of a dead mirror carp with a digi scale hook through its head and a bunch of goons in the background with that deviant look.
Idaho...where carp are the new sheep
Any chance of me going to Idaho to catch carp was put to sleep when I noticed that the cooler was empty. Damn bro, save a brother a drink!
I know, I know...
I live about close to the Blackfoot in Soda Springs. I bowfish for carp there.
Sounds like some real fun. Also, with carp like that, they should put on one hell of a fight.
I can hear my 8 wt humming in the corner. I made the mistake of reading this out loud to my wife and I think it overhead me.
Kinda like a lab when the guns come out, they know it's time to play.
An ode to carp:
Oh golden dreams,
they lurk in current seams,
and in the lakes,
Make no mistakes,
for they are wary,
and kind of scary,
To have one on,
just after dawn,
fufills my dreams,
as the reel screams,
How I long to go,
to Idaho,
Where the sun doth shine,
on those carp so fine.
Not sure what came over me there, must be working to hard today. Never claimed to be poet and now you all know why.
We fish for Carp, 'cause they remind us of ramcat & sheep. Last time we saw a mouth like ramcat's it had a hook in it. But seriously folks, it's a good cause-- a college fund for a soon-to-be-born kid, who's flyfishing dad died much too early from a heart attack.
And there's lots of beer. . .the cooler in the photo is empty, cause it held that fish.
The Idaho Fish & Game have requested that we kill the carp. . .but way too many show up at the weigh-in.
Hope to see you there (from one of the 'goons').
So did i win the sponsorship?
Can I kill carp in the name of charity and FlyTalk?
travel costs included in sponsorship?
So there is beer. Sweet!
I've always called carp bronze rockets. Great fight on a fly rod and knuckle busters if your not careful. I love to carp fish on a fly but not enough to travel 3000 miles to do it.
Either way it doesn't mean we can't share patterns and methods.
You shouldsend me. My flyrod is broken I'm 14 and bored.
