Fishing Boat Sinks Off New Jersey, 3 Men Missing
By Dave Hurteau
From an AP story via myCentralJersey.com:
Coast Guard boats, planes and helicopters searched the roiling ocean off Cape May on Thursday for three commercial fishermen whose boat sank, and colleagues of the missing men prayed for a miracle. . . .
The Coast Guard has recovered an empty life raft, but had not found any signs of survivors as of Thursday morning as weather conditions continued to worsen, due in part to the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida, which was churning the sea from North Carolina to Long Island, N.Y..

Very sad. My condolences to the family. That was a nasty storm. Many said it was the worst since the late 70's. Flooding and erosion were(are) a major problem. Mother Nature was agitated and not to be taken lightly.
Sadly enough there was another tragedy involving outdoorsmen and this storm. A small plane crashed in Petersburg Nj after taking off in Woodbine during an apparent lull in the storm. The plane was piloted by a 53 y.o. male accompanied by his 12 y.o. son. They were on their way to Indiana on a hunting trip. The boy was an only child. Very sad.
Everyone say a prayer and may God be with them and their families.
I'll pray that they turn out okay,God bless them, sorry to the families and friends.I hope they find'em.
Its a real shame. A sinking is one of the worst I encountered when I was in the Coast Guard. The long hours of searching and to get negative results is a heart breaker. I love the sea and have been on her for many years and if you never been on the sea you just don't know the power the water has. My best to the families
The ocean is no place for absent-mindedness. With weather information as we have today, there is no excuse to go out when the known conditions are so hazardous. I'd imagine the Coast Guard would say the same things regarding boating safety. Unfortunately, these three are probably long gone to Davy Jones.
