2-Year-Old Girl Catches 20-Pound Muskie With Barbie Rod

By Dave Hurteau

If fact, young Ella Haag caught her first two fish ever this past weekend on Minnesota’s Round Lake. First, she caught a sunfish that swallowed the worm on her hook. Then she caught the 20-pound muskie that swallowed the sunfish:

From My Fox 9 News:
"Ella had her sunfish on and she's reeling it in," her mom, Carrie Haag, said. "Here comes this big muskie that went and ate her sunfish. So I grabbed the pole and yelled for grandpa David."

Grandpa grabbed a net and soon they landed a 30-inch muskie weighing in at a little under 20 lbs -- a fish bigger than the fisherman who caught it. The Barbie fishing pole survived it all and little Ella was so excited, she said the first thing that came to her mind -- "I caught a shark."

Be sure to check out the video.

I agree. Cool story, but I couldn't stop thinking about how a 30 inch fish could be 20 lbs. and then after pic I realized there was a mistake somewhere in there.

It'd be really cool if they had video of that little girl catching it

I`m just proud of that little girl I don`t care if it was 30 pounds or 1/4 lbs. that is somethin that she can say she did for the rest of her life. I hope that they got the total measurements and had a replica mount to remember that fish. GREAT JOB young lady.

As soon as I saw this story on TV, the first thing I thought was, she didn't catch that all by herself.

yeah maybe not very realistic but kinda funny, like the time I caught my toddler feeding the wild quail bird seed from her hand. my boyfriend (the bird hunter) was not very happy.
