Discussion Video: Ashley Judd Rips Sarah Palin
By Dave Hurteau
Okay, have at it.
How is the Alaska Wildlife supposed to redeem the bounty without some tangible proof? More anti-hunting rhetoric from the tinseltown crowd.
Oops, I almost forgot; what science is Sara Palin casting aside? Ms. Judd did not elaborate so Where's the beef?
What's the scientific argument against wolf population control?
BTW, I think Palin's $150 for a foreleg bounty is silly. They ought instead to offer market rates for an entire fur.
95% of actors with political agendas should come with a warning label as follows.
*Exposure to the thoughts and actions of (insert actor name here) can lead to decreased brain function, continued exposure may lead to vegetative state of mind similar to that of a liberal democrat.
Isn't it funny how actors seem to want to be involved with anything that gets their name in the media especially when they don't seem to be as popular at the box office as they used to be? I would think they could do alot more with their millions and millions of dollars then to pretend to be a politically conscience activist who's a expert on what they're blabbing off about. How about helping poor families and such rather than buying another $100,000.oo dress for the oscars.
I guess they seem to forget the havoc packs of wolves reek on wild life in the winter. Not to mention anything they do to the people living out there. Wolves are very destructive if left unbalanced.
she still has a point that shooting from a plane isn't fair hunting.
While I don't put much stock in whinging Hollywood types, and the arguments given are based more on inane emotion than tangible facts, the method of killing being protested is a load of bollocks in of itself. If population control is needed, using regular hunting with additional tags for trouble regions is a time-proven means of accomplishing the task while raising revenue for the State at the same time - as opposed to a scheme that costs the State money and is, all truth be told, a much less humane way of harvesting animals.
Man she is hot, but now I have to hate her.
Control of wolves is not "hunting" per se. This is not intended to be fair chase hunting for game animals. There is no intention of "harvest", just population control. "Hunting" of wolves in Alaska on foot by fair chase might result in some wolf tracks, but that is about it.
Yet again, an activist is now an expert. Sort of like BHO....
You folks have missed this entirely. This is not about shooting wolves (that footage has been around for almost 30 years), wildlife population control or aerial hunting. This is nothing more than a political commerical.
The Democratic party and the left in general are afraid of Sarah Palin. They know she brought fire to the Republican party not seen in while and that she has stirred conservatives to rethink party rhetoric. No matter what you think of her she scares hell out of the left.
They know she will be a vialble candidate in 2012 and they have begun their systematic slurr campaign against her. This won't be the only issue based negative ad they throw at her. They want her dirty and they want doubt, disgust or what ever else they can get out solidly implanted into the minds of voters.
They want to stop Sarah Palin now alright, they want to ruin her political viability. The fact that she scares them this bad is should tell you something...
they have been doin that for years thats all old footage and really find something else to complain lke taxes or the economy
One more comment on Ms. Judd herself. during the campaign she said that "Women who vote for Sarah Palin are like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders." Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BySATfll-BQ&feature=related
The left is afraid of a young (relatively), attractive and stong woman coming onto the political scene. They obviously think her a viable candidate or why would they bother. Also take note of the web site she stumps www.eyeonpalin.org not defenders of wildlife.
Beekeeper stole my words he is right on. Remember the smear campaign those bastards started during the election. Remember how they smeared Joe the plumber over a thousand bucks in state income tax. Then they tried to slip Dashle in as a nominee after his 100+ grand income tax fraud.
Without aircraft you are spinning your wheels trying to control wolves. Alaska is huge you really need to fly over in a bush or floatplane at a couple K feet to get an idea of how much ground you have to cover. A man on foot in the snow or even on a snow machine might hunt a year and never get one wolf. The magazine hunting stories we read don't tell you about the areas that have almost zero moose and/or caribou because of wolves and Grizzly bears. They do the most damage during calving season. I knew a Army Chopper pilot that flew missions to tag and weigh bears for AK fish and game back in the 80's. They would spot with a Super-cub and then fly in with the Slick to dart, weigh, tag etc the bear. Many of which were eating newborns when they were spotted. This was wnen I was the range control NCO at Ft. Wainwright.
If the democrats are afraid of Sarah Palin, they shouldn't be. Speaking as a right of center gunowner and hunter, Palin is a disaster for conservatism. The fact that she isn't out to confiscate our guns or tax us to death shouldn't blind us to the fact that she's just as irrationally radical as our opponents on the left, and just as incompetent to govern. Wake up! A tool of major mineral exploiters is not the friend of the hunter-conservationist. She may not take away our guns, but if her policies continue she will take away our game and the habitat we hunt them in.
With that out of the way, back to wolves. The problem with Palin's predator control plan is that it's guiding principle is the Alaskan Intensive Management law which uses "historic high" big game populations as the target for future game populations. If the current population is under the Historic High (HH)population, local predators are culled to try to increase it. HH populations are by definition aberrant. A historic high population can't be sustained and is therefore an unhealthy target. Furthermore, predators improve the hygiene of ungulate populations (a good thing). Far better to concentrate on taking our fair share of a herd moderated by climate, available browse, disease, AND predation.
If Ashley Judd moved to Alaska and became a full-time resident and involved herself in the States wildlife management programs then she would have the right to comment on what happens in Alaska. Otherwise if she doesn't know what the heck she is talking about it's usually best to keep your mouth shut.
Beekeeper- I'm coming from a decidedly moderate position but I can tell you that liberals are not afraid of Sarah Palin. She is the punchline to a joke to alot of people-even conservatives or moderates much like myself. I think there is more chance of Hillary winning the next election which is scary to a moderate like me. I've seen almost every Palin speech and I really haven't seen anything that would indicate she is president material or seen any signs of anything that could be called "leadership".
For anybody reading the posts, just read beekeepers'. HE nailed it on the spot.
I found that if you turn the volume off, you can enjoy her beauty without listening to the crap... much better that way.
I don't know if she has made any movies of the type she would be good at.....
For the information of vhayek you are wrong, take it from someone who obviously knows more about the elk and deer population then you do the population begins to decrease because of the continual harassment from the wolves. They create viral herpes in the prey population that causes them to not take with a calf or fawn they also do not settle with a fetus because of the continual harassment in the first trimester of their pregnancy also in the case of Alaska the wolves are considered a game animal not just moose, elk ect. For those of you that think Sarah Palin does not have what it takes to run this country you should know that I feel at least she has a brain and for anyone not willing to vote for her likely you are just afraid of a women in power.
Also unless you really know all the details behind her hunting theories and the real affects that wolves have on the animal populations and the long term affects you really need to study up and not just pop off.
What's missing from Ms. Judd's comments is actual science and facts. Kind of like the global warming debate...Hmmm. Same crowd, same ignorant comments. How many caribou, deer, livestock, etc... do wolves take? Don't they need to be controlled?
The fact is that wolf populations are up consistently in Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Minnesota, etc... Where was that little footnote in her political commercial?
Two weeks into his administration and Obama has bombed. Why not start the distractions.
I like how all the footage is from the 70's.
This is what's wrong with our society. These celebs get paid HUGE amounts of money to say that they are aginst something when they really arent. Then people decide they are aginst it because they see a celeb aginst it and think it really must be bad.
Seeing this stuff makes me sick.
Buckhunter hit the nail on the head, IMO. She doesn't contribute to the economy of Alaska, so she should back off and worry about stuff that directly affects her, like what outfit to buy for the next award show.
Where do I sign up for one of the hunts? That looks like a lot of fun!
F&S's recent article 'A Change in the Weather' reminds me of Judd. Shallow, no interest in an opposing point of view, no comment from scientists that don't agree with the inevitable doom of global warming. Plenty of worthless anecdotes and opinions. Facts please, not speculation.
from William wrote "Beekeeper- I'm coming from a decidedly moderate position but I can tell you that liberals are not afraid of Sarah Palin. William - did you vote for Obama? Sounds like you did. I would ask you what particularily he did to "sound" Presidential. This is the same as the liberal media's double standard of applying some arbitrary standard against Palin that they (and apparently you) wouldn't apply to Obama. He absolutely said nothing that demonstrated knowledge or "great plan" in how he would run the country. If you're going to start citing the I can se Alaska nonsense and you say you've see her speeches you like the libs are lying. Most of the negative things attributed to Palin she never said. But as a "moderate" yeah right - you keep buying into the worthless B S the librag Huffington Post, Rachel (I'm a gay liberal) Maddow, SLOblemann, and I need my spotlight Chris Matthews put out there. Just don't then post it and expect everyone to believe its true!
