Out of Africa
By Kim Hiss

I did a post earlier this year when blog reader Jan Favors was featured on an Outdoor Channel program about her August trip to Africa with the NRA's Women on Target.
I figured this time of year -- when there aren't a lot of hunting photos to swap -- would be good for sharing one of her shots from that trip. Her hunt included a Mountain Reedbuck and Blue Wildebeest, as well as a Blessbuck and Springbok. Jan said this was her fourth trip to Africa and probably the most fun. The other women on this "no boys allowed" hunt ranged in age from 19 to 65 and were seasoned hunters from all over the U.S.
In other news, I apologize for having to delay the Gear Giveaway winner announcement until next week. But in the meantime, thanks to Jan for sharing such a great pic and congrats on such a great hunt! Maybe we'll have some pig pictures to post before too long as well. -K.H.

Another young Karen Blixen.
the next time someone goes to africa, can i hide in their suitcase? oh, and can you carry my rifle for me?
I have been away for a week and have missed all of you. Had a wonderful trip and I will try to get some photos to Kim the first of the week.
We have been mulling around the idea of an African trip as I really, really want to harvest a warthog. Yeah, leave it to me, but I do.
The ONLY concern I have is the flight over. How in the world do you sit for that many hours??
Can't wait to see some photos posted and Jan, thanks for sharing your adventure.
Glad to be back, however where I left it was 97 degrees and we came home to MINUS 9!!

Nice show, looked like lots of fun. Now if I could just convince my girlfriend to go hunting, let alone not get overly upset watching the Outdoor Channel, then maybe I could consider a hunt in Africa. But for now it's good old New England for my hunting grounds.
still looking for a girl that likes to get out in the outdoors. sucks when they are always on you because you like to and they don't.
Been away from the blog for a couple days, just now catching up.
Awesome Jan! I was unable towatch the show, but that is great Pic and I'm sure that hunt was a Blast!!
