Gear Tester of the Month: Del in KS
By Online Editors

Most of you know that each month (starting now) we're selecting one online reader to test gear for the magazine, based in part on how many points that reader has earned. We're pleased to announce that this month's pick is Del in KS!
Del is currently our top online reader-contributor and has racked up 53970 points in the two months since our new site went live. We picked him based on both the quantity (which is prodigous) and the quality (which is excellent) of the comments he's made on our blogs and articles, the questions he's answered in our Answers tool, his participation in our message boards, and the photographs he's posted to the Trophy Room. In recognition of this, we're sending him four tents (worth $200-$300 each) to test for the magazine (he gets to keep them after he's done). Look for his reviews in the July issue. The tents are ...
MSR Hubba Hubba Tent (shown above)
Eureka Mountain Pass 2XTE
LL Bean Mountain Light Tent 2
Coleman Exponent TYL X2 Tent
Click here for more information on how you can sign up for our reader tester program (and on how your participation on this site can help you earn free gear).
Good luck!

Good job Del, I hope that you like camping.
One a month, that's not so great. And we need 50,000 pts? Nice job Del, I guess i won't be doin' any testing.
Congrats Del, when I hit you up for a Kansas whitetail hunt (you obviously know what your doing) at least I know I'll have something to sleep in! Ha! Nice work!
Way to go Del! Now you'll have to get away from the computer for a while to test those out & that will give the rest of us a chance-Ha Ha, congradts.
Del - When are you going to find the time? Hope you have a notebook PC and mobile broadband so you don't fall behind on posts.
Guess you'll be able to get some warm and cold weather camping in. Isn't it still snowing in Kansas? We all want to know if condensation is a problem in subzero temps (just kidding ... sort of).
Keep up the good work!

Congrats Del! Hey man you can't use four tents at one time after your done testing them. Drop one of them off the next time you swing by Lawrence ;)
Del,
Post pics if Elisa Cuthbert spends any time in one of those tents. Nice going.
Is that a comment from Wayne Simien?Nice work on the John Brown pic even though he was a worhless loser who just happened to be good at killing people for a good cause.
IT IS MARCH AND NOW IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR FISHING GEAR READY . IT IS ALSO TIME TO HAVE YOUR SHOT GUN READY IN KY . AS YOU KNOW ,TURKEY SASON OPEN IN APRIL. SEE YOU IN THE FIELD AND ON THE WATER. GOOD HUNTING AND FISHING THIS YEAR. LARRY HOPKINS
I CAMP OUT EVERY TIME I GO FISHING. I HAVE USED SEVERAL DIFFERENT TYPES OF TENTS. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT SOME TENTS ARE BETTER THEN OTHER , BUT AS LONG AS THEY KEEP YOU DRY AND OUT OF THE ELEMENTS"GO FOR IT" I'M SURE THESE TENTS ARE OF GOOD QUAILITYAND WORTH TRYING.
Hey guys want to see one heck of a fighting fish? click on wsimien above, go to his profile and check that Peacock Bass. Way to go Jhawk. I caught a few of those in Hawaii they pull harder than anything their size. They have them in a freshwater lake on Oahu.
About the tents-thanks guys-you all had a hand in helping with the points. I'll try not to let you down.
Wayne we got to go fishing-hunting or something. I saw just about everyone of your games man you rock. My wife says you are a christien too!
Tomorrow Jill and I are going out to scout the Turkeys and look for sheds. Should be in the 70's.

I sure hope this tent is good. I just got one on sale from Bass Pro and am really excited to go camping this summer and try it out.
Del , remember to have backup LOL!
Good job Del, looking foreward to your reviews.
Good job, I hope I can get to that level.
Congrats. i almost thought they lied
Hmmm... When you're done with the LL Bean tent send it to me. Unless it's your favorite.
However, at that rate of points, I should have mine in 2012, maybe 2011.
Congrats Del. Give those tent all you can, I need a new one that will take some punishment. I'll be looking for that review.
Congrats, looks like I see some camping in your future. If you need some terrain that is hard on gear, head out west for a couple weeks this spring for a bear hunt, it will put them to the test.
Congrats Del hope you have fun and can give good info.

o yea congrats too
Del, I look forward to reading your review, good luck.
Hey guys and gals I took the tents out for a chilly camping and fishing trip last week. Spent most of my time going over the tents while my buds fished. We also put out a trotline but the fish were no doubt huddled in the deepest part of the lake trying to stay warm.
Jay sent lots of paperwork to fill out and I don't want to spoil the article but I will say these are all nice tents. I weighed them with a fish scale and they range from 5 lb 3 oz to 7 lb 11 oz. All rolled into small packages so packing any of them should be a snap for most people. The next few days are supposed to nice so will be using the tents again. The plan is to get paperwork and pics back to Jay by the weekend if possible.
Thanks for your encouragement. I intend to be brutally frank about my opinions. Keep in mind tho it will be edited. That's all for now.
Del
Del sounds great, really looking forward to reading the first readers review. Wish they would have sent you 4 shot guns or ulta lights though thats what's on my brain at the moment. :P Should have saved the tents for Clay in December!!! :)
Later Man, Have fun!!

I posted a photo of the tents for anyone that would like to see them. Just click my username and then doubleclick the photo. Now I have to wear shades when traveling with my entourage. All this fame has not changed me at all. No autographs please, ha,ha.
