Long Island Announces First Turkey Season
And it’ll be just in time for Thanksgiving.
From Newsday:
This fall, Long Island will have its first-ever wild turkey hunting season. The season - the five days leading up to Thanksgiving - will limit hunters to taking one bird apiece at several Suffolk locations with either a bow and arrow or shotgun, state regulators said.
State officials, who announced the special hunting season Tuesday, said the hunt was necessitated by the remarkable repopulation of wild turkeys on Long Island.

This is great news for the people of Long Island!!! Good luck to all of you.
My brother just retired from managing a county park out near Riverhead. He recently told me that the turkeys are everywhere. Good luck Long Island turkey hunters!
I've always wanted to shoot some of the turkeys living on L.I....
This is good news. Hopefully it will be very successful and maybe a few more people will be converted or at least be more open to others hunting.
can't wait until i can hunt whitetail in Central Park. the tree huggers protected wildlife now the wildlife is trying to take back land it originally owned.
Good luck with the turkey hunting on Long Island... didnt realize the population was at such a peak there. Well, I guess that means we are doing something right.
