12-Year-Old Girl Becomes Youngest Minnesotan To Bag Moose
From the Pioneer Press:
Kelly Holmin, 12, is a seventh-grader in Nicollet, Minn., who loves playing the flute and volleyball and just plowed through the teen-lit "The It Girl" book series.
"Definitely not a tomboy,'' her father, Jeff, a taxidermist, said of his eldest daughter. "She's kind of a girly girl who likes to wear makeup already."
A girly girl who shoots a Ruger Hawkeye rifle and just became the youngest Minnesotan to shoot a bull moose?
Well, that's Kelly Holmin, too. . . .
With one shot, Kelly felled the moose with a 75-yard shot.
"That's when dad started jumping up and down saying, 'You got him!' ''
"She started crying, she was so happy," Jeff said. When they climbed down the hillside, "she couldn't believe how big he was," Jeff added.

Impressive. That's no small animal.
You go girl!
Read the entire article. . . I was pretty skeptical usually these stories are dads giving easy shots to their kids but this young'un really fought for her kill!
It figures she's from Nicollet. I've been there twice. Great town, great people, awesome conservation club.
Great story, it is great to hear of the struggles and preperation that hunters go through, the best part is when all the hard work pays off. That is one life skill that she will have the rest of her life. Awsome moose!
definitely a nice bull and with her enthusiasm I'm betting it won't be her last one.
If she has brothers, I'll bet they don't much mess with her, girly girl or not.
Its pretty nice article...Thanks for sharing
