Former Vermont Fish & Wildlife Board Member Caught Poaching Again
From the Rutland Herald:
The former sergeant-at-arms of the Vermont Statehouse and former member of the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Board has pleaded no contest to two deer hunting violations in New Hampshire.
Kermit Spaulding, who was convicted in Vermont of shooting at a deer decoy from his truck in 2003 and was cited for hunting over bait in 2005, pleaded no contest to discharging a firearm on a public road and no contest to carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle on Nov. 11 in Pittsburg, N.H.
It was the fourth conviction for hunting violations in two states over the past six years for Spaulding. . . .

The judge should not have accepted his nolo plea. A man in his position knows better. Bravo to the officer that brought Mr. Spaulding in. That took a lot of grit!
I have allways heard that F&G officers were some of the bigest poachers but did'nt belive it untill one of our directers got bustesd for poaching a mule deer. I am not saying they are all like that but you wouldnt expect it from someone hired to protect the wild life I guess some people cant hold back and greed takes over its a shame.
maybe it is time for the state to require him to forfeit, vehicles, guns, etc that were used in the commission of his crimes. money certainly hasn't stopped him of his poaching ways. are those states part of the multi-state group that cross references game violations and would prevent him from buying licenses?
fines arent doing the job here. i think they should confiscate his weapons and everything he uses to hunt. this punk should know better
what ever happened to 3 strikes and your out
That's way too lenient, especially with his background. They should have thrown something at him, maybe something bigger than "the book."
Again? His weapons should be confiscated along wiht a hefty fine.
so the first time they throw the book at him should cure his problem.. Second time beat him senseless with the dang thing then if it is done again, well then he's just broken in the head and needs a bigger book.
Only question, why the hell isn't he in jail?
I am with Paul Wilke. This character needs some time with 3 squares a day, 4 walls & a roof over his head at the expense of the taxpayers!
And BUBBA for a cellmate!
