Gun Dog Photo Contest: And the Winner Is...
After a slight delay as we tallied all the votes, the editors of Field & Stream are ready to announce the winner of the gun dog photo contest. So here we go…
Fellow gun doggers, the people have spoken. After one month of intensive voting, the winner of the Gun Dog Photo Contest has been decided. Of the 778 entries you have chosen the winner of the Remington Model 1100 Premier Sporting 28-Gauge with nickel receiver and gold inlays (valued at $1,400). And that winner is…Dickvon for the below photo of his dog Ellie retrieving a drake on her first birthday.
Dickvon, congrats and look for an e-mail from Field & Stream to discuss the next steps in claiming your prize.
But wait...There's more!
To be honest, there were some unbelievable shots in the gallery, and it was hard not to become attached to a favorite. So the editors decided to award an honorable mention based not on reader votes but on an editors’ vote. After much debate we chose Muskiedenton’s photo below.
Thanks to our friends (and very fine folks) at Avery Sporting Dog, Muskiedenton will receive an Avery Sporting Dog Pro Trainer’s Bag worth $50. Muskiedenton, congrats and send me an e-mail at mbfcontest@gmail.com so I can ship your prize to you.
Many thanks to all who participated.

Probably the best contest I have entered.Lots of fun!Congratulations to both winners.Take many clays and fowl with the new gun!
There were many frame and win worthy photos in the gallery. Both of these owners are already winners since they appear to have some very fine dogs. Congrats.
I am just glad I did not have to judge!
fantastic contest! since looking at all of the great photos, i've vowed to take more photos of my pup in action. many congrats to the winners!
Awesome Pics! Glad I didn't have to only vote or judge for one.
Congrats! A fine looking dog and good photo to boot!

I would like to thank all of the readers that voted for Ellie's photo. The picture was taken at Ocosta, Washington on Grays Harbor near Westport.
I am a WDFW Hunter Education Instructor and the 28 gage will make a nice addition to the firearms that we use on "range day".
Congratulations to the winners. I knew my pics didn't stand a chance among that really incredible competition. Couldn't have accepted the prize anyway because I don't have a Canadain firearms aquistion license. Didn't plan on acquiring any more guns when the govt initiated the system so only have a possession license. Had I won (and I was sure I wouldn't), I would have redeamed or auctioned the shotgun with proceeds to the local Autism Society in memory of my son.
as a gundog owner for 25 plus years i really enjoyed looking through all the photos it is great to see that every one of these dogs are so well cared for and loved as most every dog owner would say, part of the family, i know all of mine were and are. i hope f&s will put the top 4 or five vote getters in the next issue, they truly were great photos, for all the readers, gundog owners or not to see and enjoy! job well done dog people.
congrats well deserved
alot of good photos were posted
I'm a big fan of the editor's choice, and the main prize couldn't have gone to a better contestant. A perfect gun for youth range days.
Congrats to you both and your dogs as well.
Congratulations to everyone. Great pics.
Well done F&S editors!
Beautiful Photo. Personally, I thought the flying, near-vertical blonde-haired blackdawg wuz the best.
Congratualtions to you Mr. Dickvon and your awesome dog Ellie!!!
Congrats!!!
Outstanding!! There were some incredible photos in this contest!! I`d say everyone that entered was a winner!!!
What breed is Ellie?
Congratulations!
To answer "Old Hippie"
Ellie is a Chocolate Lab. I have had labs since I was 12 years old (53 years) and she is the best pheasant dog I have ever owned. She also does very well on ducks and geese but she gets bored just sitting in the blind and prefers to be out in the field hunting.
Congrats to Dickvon and Muskiedenton! Great pictures!
very nice.
