The Ultimate Portable Blind?
By Scott Bestul
I have profiled some unique deer blinds in this space before, but nothing quite like the model featured in the video below. I have to be honest here; there is absolutely no chance I will ever own one of these, and only the slimmest of odds that I will ever have the opportunity to hunt from one.
But so help me, I can help but love the “Road Hunter 360.” It’s got a charming redneck appeal, and the father/son team that designed it just seem like my kind of guys. And as promotional videos go, this one has a down-home vibe that I watched twice, just because it was fun.
So tell me your thoughts…Anyone putting one of these on their “gotta have one” list?

Got to love their ingenuity. It's green, too - "Made from 99% recycled material." Maybe one in an extended cab. What I'd really like is their tow vehicle!
I can't view the video from work, but from the pics on the website, their original idea is not the first time that this idea has been thought of. I have old pickup cabs that I have been meaning to move around my in-laws ranch to hunt coyotes and antelope from. I just keep telling myself I'll do it later. Just as the old un-repairable stock tanks are going to get shooting positions cut out of the sides so that I can hunt antelope out of them too. I love that they put it on a swivel system. Although that front window could use to have a fold down or fold up option to add to it's marketability. I give 'em 2 thumbs up!
I can hear the Allman Brothers band now ...
Lord, I was born a ramblin' man,
Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can.
And when it's time for leavin',
I hope you'll understand,
That I was born a ramblin' man.
Well my father was a gambler up in Minnesota,
He wound up on the wrong end of a gun.
And I was born in the back seat of a Road Hunter 360
Rollin' down highway 169.
I dare say these guys had a little too much time on their hands. But, if they get the next generation out hunting, more power to them!
Redneck ingenuity never ceases to amaze me
that is the coolest thing ive ever seen.
see that's what happens when you live up north and the winters are long and cold. a guy's got to find somthing to do to pass the time untill spring, but you got to love it, is thier a waiting list to get one????
Where can I get one of those?
Is that where all the recycled clunkers from the goverments program are going to??
This is awesome. I grew up hunting this way only it the truck wasn't modified.:) jk. Great set up I wonder if it has cruise and air??
Can't believe people think this is hunting.
Geez, let's pull this thing into a fenced in farm and shoot the hell out of them critters.
Do them redneck guys want me to bow down to them or what?
Shame on you Phil, how sporting.
That is really cool. I think that would be really great for rifle hunting. (Wouldn't work so well for bow hunting.) And of course you noticed that they had to use a Chevy cab because a Ford just wouldn't be tough enough:)
They must watch the Red Green Show up there a lot! I did not see that much duct tape though! I think that their ingenuity and enterprise are great, but this is not something that I would really put on my list of hunting "needs".
cool idea,What would you regester it as at motor vehicle?
Jim in Mo.
Whats wrong, get up on the wrong side of the bed today?
you need to lighten up,As for me , I think its great, i need a new blind.
Don
this is the coolest deer stand i have ever seen.
That Minnesota for ya boys. Why buy it when you can build it? Makes living here kinda fun.
It would be good for rifle hunting.......... very cool blind !
A+ for creativeness. I would not know how to put one together myself or even have the idea. But looks very cool. The only thing that really concerns me is how loud it is when it turns. Other than that, it seems more of a novelty to have than anything else. But that is just me.
Pretty clever. Not on my list, but i appreciate the effort and skills involved (i.e. redneck engineering). I can remember a few nasty cold windy snowy days in the field where i might've climbed into one of these if it were there. I don't do as much rifle hunting anymore, and when i do i like to stillhunt instead of sitting. This thing wouldn't work with a bow. Pretty neat though.
I think that this would be a bit over the top for me. A neat idea, but just not for me.

haha I wonder if it has a heater. The only foreseeable problem I have with such a stand is that I wouldn't feel right shooting out of a truck window.
