Welcome to Field & Stream
Backlash and Blowback
Has any one else noticed the user TYRELL is cheating? Almost every post I looked at from his was a direct copy of a previous post from another user. This is bull that this user can get 9900 points and not have more than three original answers. What do you all think?

I haven't noticed, but some of the junk people are putting up is ridiculous. People are asking questions that have already been asked a zillion times on this site. I think they're doing it just for the points. I think the editors need to monitor this better.
Yea I have also noticed people posting a question that says "See first post" they only do that to get 100 points. Someone really needs to monitor this site.
I noticed.
Sorry i posted a question on answers without reading this tread first. Sorry.
Nate
usmcturkey,
you actually get no points for answering your own question.
Nate
Yeah thats sort of ridiculus! But with the sking the same questions over and over....Im sure that people have been asking questions ever since the site was started, so alot of people dont want to spend an hour looking through archives. Asking the question outright is just sort of easier, plus, newer members will have the chance to answer them.
But as to the trash that is posted and the copied answers..that should be fixed...and soon!
I agree with most of you all. If you can't put forth an honest answer/comment, and an original one every time, then you shouldn't be putting anything up at all. I can understand how the same questions can be asked a few times over. There are some people that don't browse the site every day, or even every month for that matter, so when they ask a question that has already been asked, it could be possible that they haven't read a previous post about their question...on the other hand, I have no doubt that it is abused, but I think it could be tough to monitor all the time.
Yeah, I see your point. New users can ask a repetitive question. I didn't really think about that before. I better not see it from people with 5 stars though!!!
This user has 3 stars though and there all from other peoples posts.
That type of thing does suck but who really cares about points? It does suck weeding through all the bull but you obviously have the time you are on the internet. So yes I ocasionally post something in the answers column that does'nt pertain to hunting,so what.I think you are less of man for even bringing this up.Who really cares?POINTS POINTS POINTS! I'd like to lose some.KEEP IT REAL!
I think that it's a bunch of bs. I looked on his profile and it's a kid, I'm sure that he can cut and paste in about 2 seconds. Of course the way kids text and spell we probably couldn't read his stuff any way.
j-j the problem with asking the same questions is that some do within hours of the fisrt question being asked, they don't even go back one page or even scroll down for that matter.
I am just looking around trying to be helpful if I can and I have tried to start a couple threads but nobody seems to care. All I am looking for is good intelligent conversations with fellow sportsmen the points thing seems like a pipedream not overly concerned with points personally
rrmont,
i can understand where you are coming from, but i am a kid and i never text and think my english is pretty good.
Nate
so if he is cheating is he just doing it to recieve stuff from field and stream? if so maybe the monitors should delete his account? its only a opinion

If he's cheating he won't win gear. We know when it happens, and don't select our testers solely on points. If someone racks up a bunch of points on quantity without putting any quality into their answers, comments, etc., we won't pick them.
He has started getting penalized for his antics so I think admin is wise. I saw several posts where he copied the question and pasted it as an answer. I also noticed he had gone from 3 stars to 2! Cheaters never prosper! Well, almost never.
yeah i saw that when i asked a qustion. so i gave him a minus at least he wont get gear
I actually haven't seen anything new from for 2 days or so it's kinda nice. I can feel the inteligence level rising already!!
not that there was a lack of inteligence just meant that his antics were bringing everybody down.
Yes I have seen it too. I think he just wants to test gear.
Yeah i agree with Christian EMter i want to test gear too but not that bad... Wow it just amazes me what people will do to get their way
Some folks get pissy over just about anything!
Double posts will keep happening to the best of us. For those cheaters we all know who they are and I wouldn’t dignify them by acknowledging them!
Of course you will come across a pesky fly that will deserve swatting once in a while!
Cheaters and whiners are the ones with low self esteem with over inflated egos!
Some of you and you know who you are including yes you to Nate are welcome in my camp any day!
I was actually staying away from this. But since I post on subjects I get a strong feeling about, I must.
Idea #1... Put the activation date on a member's profile. I personally want to know if someone has 30,000 posts in 4 months. There is not enough credible things to say from anyone in those quantities.
Idea #2... I am a member of a board that lists 'average number of posts per day' with user name. That would point to repeat spammers.
Idea #3 (and here's where people are gonna get mad) Go through the message boards and delete/discredit areas that seem to be single-user vehicles for cut-and-paste free credits.
Now there are some users here, like Del, that post a lot but it has a high fun readability factor. There are... uh... others that feel they must post repeatedly everywhere on any subject. I personally like to just make my point known unless somebody makes me get on my soapbox. I've got it right here, so don't make me.
If most of you are like me, I'm on here to read about the stuff I love, and to get some helpful hints from people much more (and sometimes less) experienced than me. And if someone is going to get on and just start pasting nonsense-then they don't even need to be on this site-there's many other places to do that.
Hey you guys got anything better to do than worring about TYRELL is cheating!
Jeff I definately like idea #3. I also wish that questions that are posted multiple times would be deleted and the points from those would be removed from the people.

I agree with the above comments about trying to pad your stats, I am a moderator on a fishing and hunting forum and I have to monitor and delete accounts on a daily basis.
I am newer than a lot of the veterans on this site and I built up my numbers pretty quickly, but it's not to get free stuff from F&S, being new I went through past articles and older posts to read and if I posted a comment on an older post it helped me rise up the ranks quickly.
I try to post valuable and legitimate info, I maily post in the fishing sections because of the fact I fish more than I hunt.
I agree with what everyone is saying about padding your numbers just to try and get free stuff, I also appreciate the feedback from the admins that have clarified the misconception of big nubmers equals big rewards.
Much ado about nothing.....
pretty depressing I understand that I do post a lot of stuff on here but I hope that someday someone looks at that answer I wrote and says oh thanks that's a great idea I couldn't have figured that out if it weren't for you.
I noticed this too, why dont we report him?
has any one seen any thing from him? i haven't seen anything from him latly but i think that he should get his profile deleated.
I have not seen any new postings in quite some time.
He changed his moniker to the new one above that posts dumb stuff.....
