Hunting
just about ever year we go to illinois and hunt there is some poor person getting yelled or cussed at by animal rights activists we was showing off a deer and one came up to us and started yelling and cussing then they went to another hunter and he spit chewing tabacco spit in the animal rights persons face
has anything like this happened to any of you
Yeah. My wife and one of my girls let me have it when I trapped a racoon that was getting into the cat food in the garage.
wow that is just like a song spitting chew into persons face...and considered assault in MI. We also have laws that protect hunters in MI, it is called hunter harrassment and does not just pertain to the woods/water.
no I have never been harassed by non hunters nor would I spit chew into someones face... but good luck with all that.
Dakota Dan..I feel your pain, I too "get it" when I do a little varmit reduction, but just a minute and then she is done, she knows it needs to be done.
I've been with someone harassed for wearing a fur coat. It was fake, but those people don't get the facts straight anyway.
Im pretty sure everyone on this site has been harrassed by the idiots. Im not sure spitting in theyre face was a great idea. They may not look upon hunters in a fond light after that incident.
Years ago I was standing with my children looking at the Manchurian Cranes in an enclosure at the San Diego zoo and an elderly woman walked up beside me and said “Aren’t they beautiful". My daughter remarked that we had sandhill cranes in Alaska and the woman turned and snarled "You are the barbarians whose governor lets them shoot the wolves"! My children were shocked that this person could be that zealous about something that she had no direct knowledge of. I replied "I see that you are wearing leather shoes, do you think that cattle give up their hides willingly? You are a brainwashed hypocrite" and walked away.
Good move jwallen. These people always point fingers at everybody else. I love to see the looks on theyre faces when you point out their own hypocrisy.
Where i live they have a different name instead of animal activist,we call them animal food or gator bait. You got to be real careful in the swamp,no roads no wear for a helicopter to land nothing but cottonmouths and vermon to accompany any that enter. If you happen to get disoriented and run out of fuel or break down it's really a big swamp.
Not here in East Texas. What we need to do in those situations is to take the high road. Unfortunately, its tough to do that. All it takes is one guy/gal acting like that to perpetuate the stereotype of "all hunters are rednecks." I know that a lot of y'all may not care about the stereotype of hunters to antis and the general population, but it does make a difference. Remember that our own congress makes decisions on these kinds of issues all the time, and with the current majority in power, would love to reduce our rights. Its a fight that we have to win within ourselves to act with restraint before we can begin to win over the outsiders.
Theres not to many animal rights activists here in southern WV but Ive heard storys of people going hunting and there are activists in the wood barking and making alot of noise. Thats one of my many reason I would like to become a Game Warden.
We had a substitute teacher in a class one day back in HS so we turned on espn naturally and espn outdoors was on. girl sees a fish being caught and freaks throws a text book and me and my buddy then unplugs the tv we turn the tv back on and had to watch something else. she ended up getting in school suspension. serves the crazy lady right i thought it was pretty funny
Where i live we have a "city hunt", a controlled hunt within city limits to maintain the deer population. I know a couple of guys who have had people sit underneath their stands while they are hunting, or walk around blowing air horns, or even surround the stands in mothballs. They need to see the big picture, the deer population in the city limits is out of control, and not good for the health of the population, and cause problems for residents. Oh, and i had a bit of a skunk problem, and i was taking care of it, until someone thought they would come onto my property and steal all of the traps, and leave me a little message.
As a kid me and my buddies would talk about hunting and fishing and these cityslickers would come up to us and start preachin about how hunting is a bad thing.
Had one try and give me a lecture in a McDonald's a few yrs ago, so I asked if she knew where her berger meat came from and are those real leather shoes. lolo Its all worth it,because, here in the USA we can say just about anything we want and not worry about it.
Animal rights people are the most ignorant hypocrites that have ever walked the earth,,they dont apporve of hunting or raising animals for food ect ect....But they fail to see that they are actually supporting the death of millions of animals each year because their own homes, cars, medicines and even their clothes contain animal byproducts....I have encountered several animal rights idiots protesting in the parking lots of public hunting areas in different places, they yell things like murderer,Bambi killer, ect ect..
Back in 1996 we got picked in a lottery hunt on public land, because the deer population was high and they wanted to cull 150 deer from a roaming herd of about 900 deer...it was restricted to antlerless deer only,no spikes, bucks or spots could be killed...shotguns only...a very decent controled hunt...at around noon about 15 or 20 of us who had got to take a deer came out and hauled our deer to our trucks in the parking area and put on the tags and stood around talking and looking at each others kills ect ect before going to the check in station in town...the animal rights idiots were walking around protesting and passing out some flyers which no one bothered to take...as a group of about 10 or 12 hunters were standing over by another hunters truck who had bagged a huge doe probly about 220 lbs...two animal rights idiots decided that a hunter about 2 spaces over who was standing with us looking at the doe did not deserve to take his deer home and they cut the ropes and took it from the game rack on his van and where on their way I quess to their car or the ditch...they got noticed about 20 feet from the truck carring his stiff deer...In about 1 second the hunter chambered a round and drew down on both of them,6 others including myself follwed right along,,4 or 5 others standing there also loaded and kept their guns upright but turned and watched the other 15 or 20 protestors standing with their mouths open,,,the two deer thiefs were ordered drop the deer and lay on the wet ground next to it while another hunter called the police....When the police got there everyone unloaded and put their guns away and then the 2 animal rights idiots wanted to press charges for being held at gun point...and the rest of the protestors wanted to press charges on the other 4-5 hunters for brandishing a firearm at them....Happy to say that didnt happen, but both deer thieves were charged with theft, vehicle tampering, malicious destruction of property for cutting the mans rope, and one was charged with carring concealed weapon because he had stun gun in his jacket pocked which was illegal in the county to even posess....ever since then I have not seen any more protesters in that area.....
