Lama Elk

Uploaded on February 19, 2009

Have you guys heard about the guy from New York who shot a Lama in Montana and thought it was an elk. He tagged it and every thing. What do you think?

Yeah, I read about that. I think the guy was excited to see an "elk" and pulled the trigger. Even so, i think that i would have noticed the difference between a Lama a cow elk. I don't really know why he tagged it. I was really surprised to see that he had gutted it!!! I would have just called and asked what to do with it. Then again, I dont think I would have shot a lama. It is admirable, though, that the man tried to do the right thing afterwards.

What a complete idiot. There is no excuse for that kind of stupidity.

Man oh man oh man. Not everybody grows up in the woods, huh? My ol' college perfesser up in Glens Falls, NY e-mailed me about that poor fella, and we both thought it was funny as hell. He tells me the dude is wanting to sue the fish & game dept. for publicizing what was truly a nation-wide EMBARRASSMENT FROM HELL! But still, you should know yer farm animals from yer game animals. CRINGE!!!

yeah i guess some people are just so anxious to go hunting the first time they will shoot anything. more money than sense or something. it may just be an urban myth but there is a story a co worker told me when he was at the check station and two guys drove up to tag an "albino whitetail buck" that turned out to be a goat. and i mean like a farm goat. like a pygmy goat. so, unfortunatly, it seems this isnt really that rare of a story.

Kinda pathetic, I guess he needs to invest in better optics. I would hope that you could tell the difference between an elk and a lama. People are to lazy to take the time to make sure what they are shooting is what they suppose to shoot.

The CO DOW makes a big deal of differentiating between elk and moose but this guys needs to have his eyes checked.

Unfortunately stuff like that happens too often. A fewyears back a lady from northern WI shot an 800# cow moose because she thought it was a large whitetail doe. Oops. Moose usually are not found in WI. She went bragging about it in a bar. whatever happened to knowing your target?

You have probably seen the T Shirt with a picture of a cowboy, hands in the air, standing beside his dead horse, being confronted by an irate huntress. The caption reads "if you say it's your elk, it's your elk, just let me get my saddle off it!"

Its a real shame that he got a tag that someone else could have used. Hope those lama steaks were good!!!
