Rifles

H&R "Handi-Rifle" for varmits

Uploaded on February 10, 2009

How would a H&R "Handi-Rifle" in .22-250 perform as a varmit rifle? My primary concern is with the reloading speed, as I normally have to shoot at multiple targets in quick succesion.

The rifle itself will perform very well for varmints. Reloading speed will not be that great...afterall it is a single shot. If it is normal for you to shoot multiple targets in rapid succession I suggest you look into one of the AR-15 style varminters. Low recoil and exceptional accuracy from an autoloader. For most situations you won't need anthing more than a single shot though. I've used my T/C Encore for several years and have never had a coyote or woodchuck complain of it being too slow.

Well, the handi rifle should do just fine as far as accuracy. I have a .30-30 handi rifle and shoot half inch groups at a hundred yards. Since youre lookin at a varmint caliber, you should be shootin some mighty fine groups. the reloading isnt fast. With a good rest you can probably get six or seven accurate shots off in a minute.
