Rifles
The question and topic "What is the best all around rifle" or "If you could only have one rifle" has been brought up a lot. But I am gonna switch it up a bit. If you could only own three centerfire rifles of different chamberings what would those be chambered in? (consider you hunt everything from prairie dogs and coyotes to moose and bear, so pretty much everything in America)
1) Ruger #1 RSI in .30-06
2) Custom Mauser 98 (VZ-24 based) in 7x57
3) New barrel in .257 Roberts for my bubba'd M93 Mauser
Should cover anything I want to have in front of me.
22-250
25-06
300 wsm
That'll keep me hunting all over North America.
hhmm or a 338 instead of 300 wsm daggone hhhmmmm
I'll give my two cents worth-
NEF-Single shot .243 Win.
Bolt gun in .270 Win.
Lever in 45/70
...from prairie dogs to bear!
3 centerfires?
I guess I'd go .243, .270, .300 Winchester.
Put the .243 in a Ruger #1. I think that would be a fun varmint gun, though I would probably hunt whitetails with it occasionally as well.
The .270 I'll take in a Model 70 Featherweight for everything from deer through elk. If its okay with everybody, I'll keep the one I have.
And the .300 I would like in an early Ruger M77. I really want the tang safety and adjustable trigger.
I'd have to go with the one's I already have.
My Marlin in 45-70, Winchester Mod.70 pre 64 in 30-06, and Stag Arm 2tl in 223.
Had to think for a minute.
Own- .22 Belgian made Browning (semi-auto/was dad's)
.30-06 (Pre-64) Winchester Mod. 70
.300 Win Mag. Browning(A-Bolt)
Wish List-
.22 "FINE" Holland & Holland bolt gun(did they even make one ?)
.300 Win. Mag (pre-64) Winchester Mod. 70
.404 Winchester( Just like "Teddy" carried to Africa !
Ruger 10/22 - .22LR
Remington 700 - .35 Whelen
Weatherby Mark V - 7mm Weatherby Magnum
Remington 597 (.22)
Remington 700 (.30-06)
I really personally don't feel the need for a third one, and can't justify it.
I'm probably leaving a huge gap there, but it's where I don't have much interest.
A good bolt action .22
A Savage 22-250 because of the great trigger and the coyotes it can deal with.
