My his a hard pull also. You might try wild west guns.INC. Thay clam to have a 2 to 3 lb. trigger pull. Good luck and hope you get big buck this season.

My last 336 had a stiff trigger also. It was an older one. I've seen newer ones that were crisper.

I have never been impressed by Marlin firearms' smoothness of action.

My last 336 was rough as a cob but shot well. Then my 1895 45-70 was much better as fit & finish goes. Neither can compare to my 1951 Winchester 94. It's like comparing night and day.

this gun is pretty new. I bought it brand new, never fired about 5 years ago. i brought it to the range to sight in last week and i was shooting a 5 inch pattern. Not very good. I have the over under sight mounts on it which makes it so i cant rest my cheek on the butt and i am pretty consistantly "jerking" the trigger. I am thinking that this is because the trigger pull is to hard. My dad is able to this gun a little better but i dont know whats wrong with it or if its me.

My marlin is a 336C with a 24 inch barrel. Over 30 yrs old and rides with me in my pick up every place I go. started reloading the new Hornady Leverevolution 160 GR Ftx bullet over their H4895 load. W0000000W what a shooter. Shot a coyote out of the calf pasture at about 200 yards the other day. I've never had a bit of trouble with my 336. Its been shot a couple of thousand times in the last 30 yrs and is still a good shooter. Proves all you need to do is stay with the guns you have and shoot them often. Reloading is a great hobby.

I, too am a big Marlin fan. The trigger can be overcome with practice. Fortunately, 30-30 is one of the cheaper rounds out there. Here's a tip on Marlin lever actions. Check all the screws on the side plate. Actually, check all the screws. Marlins have a wierd tendency to loosen up. They will eventualy cause the lever to hang open. I've had this happen to two different Marlins. Now, before each season, all screws get a once over.

I own a marlin 336 and love it, it is very accurate I am gonna make some 170 grain loads with speer hot-cor bullets and reloader 15 that will make it more powerful for black bear hunting. Also to alelliot I would suggest you get a good peep sight instead of a scope.
