Deer Hunting

The Damn rut

Uploaded on November 23, 2009

Last weekend it was very cold. I thought the rut would come back in because it was gone last weekend. So my hunts were okay but the deer were all out of range.

i found the rut to be slow to non-existent in Ohio the first week in Nov, and at home in NJ before and since. Weather and other factors have been poor.

Ohio rut activity seemed to fire up the end of the second week and into the third week. Tapering off now. I think most the mature does have been bred. I'm thinking we may get a noticable secondary rut - nothing scientific - just a hunch.

stand location is key regardless of being in the rut

The weather has been so screwy here in GA (HOT!) for the last several weeks, I can't tell if we're pre or post rut. I am as confused as the deer appear to be.
