Muzzleloading

Uploaded on October 15, 2009

I have been reading and I have saw where people said you can shoot a .45 sabot in a .50 cal muzzleloader.

I have a TC omgega z5 in the .50 cal, I was wondering if i could shoot the .45 cal sabot through it? If so how do you go about in doing it, meaning do i take the .45 cal sabot and put it in the .50 cal sleeve and then shoot it through the gun? thanks for the help

A friend of mine in Wis shoots a 50 cal Encore and he has used every thing in it from 44 cal to 50 cal sabots the sleves will fit in your rifle. He has got the best accuracy with the 44 cal for some reason.

He also said he uses 100 grains of Pyrodex or 2 pellets and with load hes good out to 200 yards, you should still be able to find the Hornaday bullets I have shot the XTP out of my 45 Colt and love it they work.

If you're shooting a saboted bullet in a 50 caliber, you're shooting close to 45 diameter bullet due to the sabots thickness.

generally in a 50 caliber muzzleloader people shoot a .45 bullet wrapped in a black plastic sabot. They do make a green sabot for use with .44 caliber bullets. The black sabot takes up the remaining .05 that the barrel is bored to. The green sabot is thicker and makes up the .06 left over by using the small diameter bullet. Either way the od of both are sized to work with the 50 cal.
