I have some what of the same problem. The deer are on one side of the land witch is park that we cant hunt but at night they move over to the land that were able to hunt. The only thing io can say is try a all day hunt.Around me the deer will walk around at noon and then y wont see them till dark but theres on one out in the noon.only thing i cabn say try all day,put food plots on your land or make a feeding station if legal in your state. that should keep them on your land

Short of baiting, which may or may not be legal, you could plant a small food plot next year, maybe a 1/4 acre or so. Baited deer are typically very nocturnal as well, so that probably won't solve your problem. Maybe drop a few tree's and leave the tops lay, which make good bedding cover. I wouldn't give up, as during the rut (now) they're likely to chase through there at any time. Overhunting the area a possible cause?

Well some times i guess it could be the weather at some times of the year because i live in north dakota and in the last week the deer wouldn't come out until really dark or just at dawn when it was still dark out. So i guess it could be the weather too, but i would say bait if you can.

The best way to keep deer from leaving is to make a sanctuary, 1,2, better yet 5 acres of thicket or high grass that you sont step foot in. Give the deer a place to bed and hide, a place where they never smell human scent.

On top of what everyone has suggested, try to keep the hunting pressure on your property to a minimum. Avoid drive hunting, and do not spend more than a day or two in any one stand.

I have the same problem. I would love to know what's going on because the people who hunt the land behind us have taken their limit(and a few more I believe) while we see nothing. It snowed here last weekend and there were tracks ALL OVER my stand when I came out the next morning and that just proves they're coming in at night. And I'm right by what I would think would be a perfect place for them to bed. And all my apples and corn I lay out are gone overnight. Love for some more tips on this thread!

set some feeders to feed at dawn and dusk, pulling the deer your direction during daylight hours. Dont leave the feed out over night, you may be scaring the deer off when you approach your stands in the morning.

Bedding, food, cover and no hunting pressure. If you hunt in there and don't control your scent or if deer feel pressure in any way (could even be dogs), then they will only travel through there at night.

12 acres and not knowing what the land looks like, you may just have to keep from over hunting your land. It can be very tough, but sometimes it is the only thing you can do.

Set out a deer feeder with an loud alarm that goes off 2 to 4 times in 24 hours. The deer will realize that it's a dinner bell. You must be consistant with maintenance and filling of the feeder. It works. BTW: set up a 2 ft fence to keep out pigs and turkeys. It works... Enjoy.

i would put in some small food plots plant some trees or cut some down along with tall grass for bedding and some feeders might help but most important keep everyone off that needs to be kept of a buddy has this same problem come to find out his neighbor always goes through his land to get to his and it was spooking the deer off so he started to lock the gate and this year he took a monster buck all because they weren't being pestered

The key to nocturnal deer is to when you are unting get as far away from your house, road, ect... find an area you know the deer pass thru, and hunt from dusk to dawn...
