Hunting
We FINALLY decided where hunting camp is going to be on opening day of deer/elk rifle season! We are camping on Flagstaff Mtn. between Libby and Troy Montana. I shot decent mule deer there in the past and my brother has taken many fine elk out of this neck of the woods. Cant wait! Where is your hunting camp??
I was reading a blog the other day that said there were many fine elk taken on Flagstaff Mountain in Montana so i think I'll set up camp there. :)
Mine is right up Notellum Creek over by Mystery Mtn.
I'm planning to be on the top of a mountain near where I now live. It's near some major roads, but it's a lesser tract of a well-known state gamelands, and there's a big ravine between me the access and the mountain top, so figure 500 feet down, 1500 back up. There's a longer, less steep trail in from the nearby national park (about 500 feet up, maybe a bit more), but I'd have to get a special permit to carry a hunting weapon through the park, which I'm not sure I want to do. (If I go the steep way, I can also hunt on my hike in and out, sort of.) Also, I'm planning/hoping to go in just for a night or two, not a whole week. (That's work for ya.)
