I have seen a few ads for mirror-style blinds in recent years. Most were directed toward waterfowl or turkey hunters seeking concealment in tricky places with limited (or no) cover such as fields or sparse timber. Only recently have I seen the mirror-blind concept applied to deer hunting, and that included a rather large, elevated shooting house that I assume was wrapped in a highly reflective material.
The concept, of course, is brilliant. When game looks toward your hide, all they see is a reflection of everything that surrounds it. Even better (perhaps?) is when a critter gets truly close, at which point they also spot a reflection of themselves. Now your blind becomes a decoy, and a moving one at that!
But what about the practicality of these things? Would the sun glare off them, spooking the very critters you seek? And what if a testosterone-charged buck spots his own reflection? Would he charge your blind, forcing you to shoot in self-defense? So what do you think…Good or bad idea? Anyone had experience with these things?

It's a brilliant concept, I'm just not sure it would work. However, if it does work I may have to look into these things
I am really curious what this thing looks like to something moving through the woods. I imagine it would be like Predator, from the movie. You knew something was there because the light took a strange bend around the creature. Walking by, you would probably notice movement of the reflection until you stopped. Being as curious as they are though, some deer might cautiously walk in. Kinda wish I would have thought of this.
wow, i love the concept and is there any better way to match the camo to the environment? But my concern is durability. It is after all glass isn't it?
It would be neat to see a deer and how it reacts to its own reflection. It may be a distraction to the hunter ... I'll bet things could go from zero to eighty mph, real quick!
The photo on the road is impressive.
That is a very clever idea but it seems you would have to angle it down quite a bit in order for it to not reflectt the sun or sky. But still seems like it could work.
Very good idea, how can I get one, or materials to make one?

Interesting idea. It does not appear the sun would have too much affect on the blind itself. By the way, you can see the photographer's feet reflected in the second image.
that is cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Less expensive, and has a patient for this technology.
From an avid hunter in Louisiana, I just seen one today, 6-3-09. I want one!!!! It looked to small for me weighing 215. After trial, IT`S BIG ENOUGH !!! What can i do to field test one before I buy? I DONT NEED ONE !!! BUT NOW I WANT ONE !!! THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST CAMO SYSTEM I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! NICE ANGLE!!!
Good concept for fair weather conditions...might be a little harder to use in the rain!
I am the bald guy in the last picture. These things are VERY durable, and are an all weather blind. There is also a foldable mobile version that we build. And there are other ones on the market but we do hold the patent on this. Not sure about the "others" as far as patents go. Let me tell ya, they are COOL.
