Though the American Kennel Club describes French bulldogs as having been bred only to warm the laps of the elite, this three-year-old Frenchie from Wellington, Nova Scotia, must have learned a thing or two from one of the herding breeds. The pup wasn’t at all intimidated by a young whitetail buck on its turf, and after maintaining the upper hand in their play-sparring match, it had this buck on the run.

The dog’s owner, Jamie-Rae Fifield, said that her dog ran circles around the deer for 30 minutes as it lowered its head and tried to lock horns. She posted footage of their backyard banter to YouTube in August.

Note: A large deer could be a danger to small pets—and amateur filmmakers—if they get too close. Please use caution when approaching wildlife.
