Western whitetail hunters have been waiting with baited breath across Colorado and Montana for rifle season to begin, and there are high hopes that it will be a good one. A recent cold front brought temperatures down across the West, and although it wasn’t a bone-chilling front that Western hunters relish in the fall, it did drop temperatures enough to increase whitetail activity. With the effects of that front predicted to hang around as we slide into the last week of October, and with the early stages of the rut beginning to take shape, I suspect hunters will be squeezing a lot of triggers in the coming days.
