Pythons Are Thriving in Florida’s Everglades

If you follow the outdoor news, you already know that pet owners have released unwanted Burmese pythons into the wilds of Florida’s Everglades. But how many feral snakes can that really account for? How about 5,000 to 10,000. According to this Fort Myers Florida Weekly story, the serpents are “breeding like rabbits.” In January a new law takes effect, requiring pet owners to plant a traceable microchip under the skin of their pythons.
