Uploaded: 9/06/06 10-year-old Dean Vetere of Staten Island, New York, landed this 48-pound, 11-ounce striped bass (Morone_ saxatilis_) while bait fishing near Staten Island. The fish could be the new male ‘smallfry’ record. The current male ‘smallfry’ record is 47 pounds, 9 ounces, caught on November 9, 2004.

Uploaded: 9/06/06 Trevor Rothstein, 15, of Lemont, Illinois, boated this 180-pound goliath grouper (Epinephelus_ itajara_) while fishing near Key West, Florida. The fish breaks the current mark of 64 pounds, 0 ounces, which was also caught by Trevor (in December 2004).

Uploaded: 9/06/06 Hajime Murata, of Ibaraki, Japan, landed this 17-pound, 8-ounce whitespotted char (Salvelinus_ leucomaenis_) while casting a plug in Russia’s Urbyeyah River. The current record, a 16-pound, 4-ounce fish, was caught in Russia’s Samarga River 12 years ago.

Uploaded: 9/06/06 Keiki Hamasaki, of Kagoshima, Japan may have captured two records with one catch after landing this 160-pound, 7-ounce giant trevally (Caranx_ ignoblis_). Kagoshima was casting a lure at Tokara, near Kagoshima, Japan, when he caught the fish. The catch could take both the all tackle (which currently stands at 145 pounds, 8 ounces) and the 130-pound line class record (which stands at 132 pounds, 4 ounces).

Uploaded: 8/3/06 Rudi Heger, of Siegsdorf, Germany, landed this wels (Silurus glanis) weighing 103 lb 13 oz (47.1 kg) in thirty five minutes on 20 lb tippet. Heger was fishing the Rio Ebro, in Spain. He beat his previous record by 11 ounces, caught in Mequinenza, Spain on 3/10/04.

Uploaded: 8/3/06 Michel Rumin, of Lombez, France, landed this 57 kg (125 lb 10 oz) spotted guitarfish (Rhynchobatus lubberti) in 1 hr 50 minutes while still-fishing near Dos Bijagos, Guinea Bissau. The fish is a potential new all tackle record.

Mrs. DuVal’s fish weighed 7.93 kg (17 lb 8 oz) and could be the new Women’s 04 kg (8 lb) line class record. The current record is 1 lb, 0 oz, caught on 1/19/06.
