Last year I wrote about Western Native Trout Initiative’s program dedicated to educating folks on the ins and outs of tracking down and catching four native-trout species in Nevada, Washington, Colorado, and Utah. Starting this week, however, the angling conservation group has kicked it up a notch by adding eight more trout to the list and by beefing up their online offerings on how to plan a trip to catch each of these special fish.
Each entry in WNTI’s online guide has a robust amount of easy-to-understand info on the history and appearance of the fish, where exactly they are located, the best time of year to fish for them, and the gear you’ll need. The guide also includes a host of other data, including licensing information and regulations in the areas you’ll be targeting the fish. And if you sign up for one of WNTI’s four-part courses, you’ll get tons of tips and tricks for chasing these beautiful fish, plus an email each week with additional intel and advice.
