Loctite Threadlocker is used by a lot of mechanics to keep parts (such as bolts and fasteners) from coming loose. But there are three different types of Loctite…so how do you choose the right one for the job?

BLUE (242): Medium Strength. Ideal for nuts and bolts that you adjust regularly. Hand tools are adequate for removal.

RED (271) High Strength. Good for nuts, bolts, and studs that are prone to loosening. Heat may be required for removal.

Green (290) Extreme Strength. Put a drop on and it will wick into the threads of assembled parts. Special tools and heat may be required for removal.
