Here's a perennial and obvious choice:** The Compleat Angler by Izaak Walton**, with Charles Cotton (379 pp.; 1982 reprinting. Illustrated. Published by The Oxford University Press, Dept. FS, 198 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10016. Softcover, $5.95). No, we didn't include this literary tome for punishment. It really is a good book-the root of all fishing books-although sometimes a tad flowery and hard going. The price of this edition makes it a steal.
