New Products, Part 2
A rechargeable hand warmer and other cold weather accessories.
Cold hands probably spoil more hunts than just about any other factor. But the new Firepod handwarmers from Optronics use patented technology to keep hunters hands warm and toasty on cold days.
The HW-200 Spectator and HT-206 Sportsman are rechargeable fleece muffs, while the HT-100 is a pocket-sized warmer powered by AA batteries. All three utilize safe, effective and efficient thermal convection to provide sustained heating throughout battery life.
Both muff models feature two innovative warming pods. Muff construction is two-layered quality fleece with a middle liner and reinforced stitching to withstand rugged use. Elastic constrictions on both openings of the muff help keep heat in and the elements out.
The HW-200 Spectator provides up to 5 hours of constant heating. The rechargeable battery pack conveniently fits inside the muff’s zipper pocket or attaches to the included adjustable nylon belt. The HW-200 is also operable with four regular AA batteries.
The Firepod HW-206 Sports-man is also a rechargeable fleece muff, but provides up to 12 hours of warmth for a full day outdoors. It comes with a power pack (which includes a quick-connect plug) that easily attaches and detaches from the waist strap. Muffs are available in black or camouflage. Both rechargeable models come with a 110-volt charging cord. A full charge is achieved in 10 to 12 hours. The HW-100 uses four AA batteries to provide up to 5 hours of warmth. An on/off switch allows selective use. From off to on, the unit reaches hand-warming temperature in five minutes. The HW-100 comes standard with a neck lanyard, allowing the user to wear it on the chest between layers of clothing for additional warming comfort. Available in August 2006. SRP: $49.95, HW-200 and HW-206; $19.95, HW-100; $29.95 (two-pack model of HW-100), $29.95. Booth #3729. (800-364-5483; optronicsinc.com)

Lightfield’s new Alpha Gold 300 is a spitzer boattail soft-lead bullet with a serrated hollowpoint f maximum expansion. The .50-caliber, 300-grain bullet’s design helps it achieve a higher ballistic coefficient than other blackpowder saboted pistol bullets. It also retains higher velocity, which translates into a flatter trajectory with more downrange energy.
To ensure maximum accuracy, the Alpha Gold 300 uses a specially designed sabot that expands to form an efficient gas seal in any muzzleloader. Each package comes with 14 bullets and a ramrod adapter designed to seat the bullet firmly on the powder without deforming the soft-lead nose and serrated hollowpoint. SRP: $14.99. Booth #1959.
