**The Steel Factor **
Pike and muskie anglers have a new weapon in their tackle boxes-thanks to the folks at Tyger Leader. The whisper-thin, nylon-coated, microbraided stainless-steel leader handles the toothiest critters, yet remains supple enough to tie directly to a hook or lure. Tyger comes in 5-, 15-, 30-, or 50-pound-test. Prices start at $7.50 for 10 feet of 5-pound-test. % 707-975-9068; www.tygerleader.com.

Pocket-Size Optics
Zeiss’ Victory compact binoculars are much smaller and lighter than standard-size glasses but are very nearly as bright and amazingly sharp. The 8×20 and 10×25 BT models weigh only 7.9 ounces and 8.6 ounces, and are waterproof, fogproof, and shock resistant. They’re great for hunting, bird-watching, or seeing what the guy in the next pool is throwing to the trout. Suggested retail: $479 (8×20 BT) and $499 (10×25 BT). % 800-441-3005; www.zeiss.com.
