**The Steel Factor **
Pike and muskie anglers have a new weapon in their tackle boxes-thanks to the folks at Tyger Leader. The whisper-thin, nylon-coated, microbraided stainless-steel leader handles the toothiest critters, yet remains supple enough to tie directly to a hook or lure. Tyger comes in 5-, 15-, 30-, or 50-pound-test. Prices start at $7.50 for 10 feet of 5-pound-test. % 707-975-9068; www.tygerleader.com.

Pocket-Size Optics
Zeiss' Victory compact binoculars are much smaller and lighter than standard-size glasses but are very nearly as bright and amazingly sharp. The 8x20 and 10x25 BT models weigh only 7.9 ounces and 8.6 ounces, and are waterproof, fogproof, and shock resistant. They're great for hunting, bird-watching, or seeing what the guy in the next pool is throwing to the trout. Suggested retail: $479 (8x20 BT) and $499 (10x25 BT). % 800-441-3005; www.zeiss.com.
