If one fish epitomizes fishing in the Midwest, it’s the walleye. Indiana is one of those states where walleyes are king, and the state supports plenty of quality fishing opportunities. Among the best places to fish is Brookville Lake near Brookville, arguably the best water in the state for walleye action. It offers an angler nearly 5,300 surface acres to fish, and over 24 years of continuous stocking has served as the groundwork for a strong walleye population. Launches dot the eastern and western shorelines, and outboard motors are welcome on Brookville. If you plan on spending the night, consider taking advantage of the campground at the southern tip of the lake. Contact: Indiana Department of Natural Resources (317-232-4020).
