Cortland 555 Series Fly Lines
Cortland, one of the world’s oldest line companies, now has some of the best new lines. Their 555 Series of fly lines features new core and coating materials spread over several models, each with different characteristics. The standard floating line has an extruded (rather than braided) core with hollow chambers. It floats higher than any other line I’ve ever used. Available in gold or green in sizes 4 through 8. The weight-forward Little Tunny line is a clear, slow-sinking intermediate in sizes 8 through 10. And Clear Floater is a clear, high-floating trout line in sizes 4 through 6. Suggested retail on most models is $59. Cortland Line Co., 607-756-2851;

Minn Kota Universal Sonar Electric Motors
By integrating a sonar transducer and wire into the housing of several of its bow-mount motors, Minn Kota is providing universal sonar capability. And because the wire runs inside the shaft, this configuration eliminates exterior transducer and wire clamp-ons and the ensuing breakage that has long plagued anglers. It works with the major sonar brands (Lowrance, Eagle, Humminbird, Zercom, Garmin, and Bottom Line). Minn Kota, 800-299-2592;
