Outdoor Skills - Hunting Q&A

Q: I'm going on my first antelope hunt in Wyoming. How far will I be expected to shoot?

A: I'd figure 50 to 300 yards. In designing Wyoming, Ma Nature thoughtfully provided coulees, gullys, arroyos, washes, and canyons, all of which can be used to make a stalk and get close. You may have to crawl, in which case I recommend elbow and knee guards and gloves. Most antelope are missed because they're small and look much farther away than they are.
