Outdoor Skills - Hunting Q&A

I have an old Stevens side-by-side whose stock has taken a beating over the years, and I'd like to refinish it. Will refinishing harm the gun, and can you recommend a good sealer for the wood?

Refinishing can't hurt the gun as long as you separate the metal and the wood. If you have doubts about your ability to do this, have a gunsmith do it. I recommend Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil. It has been around for years, is simple to use, and gives excellent results.
