Since its inception in 1998, Pentax’s DCF WP Series of waterproof roof-prism binoculars, the first mid-priced roof-prism models to have phase-corrected prisms-has been a perennial favorite with hunters. And judging by our test sample, this new 10×50 DCF WP model will be just as well accepted. As for optical quality, it got ratings of 100 for eye relief, resolution and low-light performance, where it outlasted the super-bright Zeiss Victory 8×56 B by two minutes. Though outperforming the Zeiss glass was, no doubt, due to the Pentax 10×50’s higher magnification, the feat was no less impressive. The most substantive criticism by testers was that the pop-up eyecups pushed down too easily.
