$749; (Barnettcrossbows.com) In the most competitive crossbow test in recent memory, the BCX (Buck Commander Extreme) did so many things so well, and presented such a quantum leap forward for Barnett, that after two days of shooting we knew we had a winner.
Among the standout features is a cam system that loads easily and delivers a bolt at 365 fps. From the anti-dry-fire mechanism to a forearm design that prevents fingers from sliding up on the rail, the BCX makes safety a priority. A CNC–machined Picatinny rail allows for easy installation of a scope. Thanks to the Carbonlite riser, the bow weighs only a shade over 7 pounds. And with its slim 22-inch profile, it just feels like a true -hunter’s crossbow. _–Scott Bestul
