A Coffee Table With an Edge

If you're like me, furniture is furniture; it's not a personal statement of who and what you are, it's just a place to sit, prop up your feet or place your beer coozie. In fact, until I got married my "coffee table" consisted of a piece of plywood sitting atop four plastic milk crates scrounged from behind a local grocery store. My bookshelves? Milk crates. Entertainment center? Milk crates. You get the idea...

But as you get older you start appreciating the finer things in life, and you do start caring a bit more about what your material possessions say about you. Unfortunately, I'm still using milk crates, but for the discriminating outdoorsman who's proud of his bushcraft skills, I give you the ax coffee table...via BoingBoing.

The table was designed for a London design show based on the stories of the Brothers Grimm and is made from oak veneer and resin ax heads. The cost? A mere 495 pounds (800 bucks to us Yanks). It's cool, but I think I'll stick with my milk crates...
