Angler Matt Taylor unexpectedly caught a fish of a lifetime on Canada's Surprise Lake with an odd bait. He was on his way back to shore with a small pike on a stringer, when it was gobbled up by a much larger pike -- one that refused to let go, according to CBC News.
"I saw this huge snake. A huge, huge fish," he told CBC News. "So, I put the boat in neutral and I tried to get it into the net. But it was so big that it wouldn't fold to get into the net."
Taylor did eventually net and boat the fish and used a rope to get it out of the boat once on shore.
The monster pike measured just over 49 inches. Taylor took a photograph with it and had his mom fillet the fish into steaks that fed 20 people.
