Three Wisconsonites, computer engineer Bob Baddeley and ice fishing brothers Brad and Ryan Zdroik, have invented BlueTipz, a wireless sensor that clips to a tip-up flag. When a fish hits the bait under the hole in the ice and raises the flag, the BlueTipz sends an alert to your smartphone.

The sensor allows you to attend your tip up remotely, so you can stay warm in the ice fishing shack and still comply with Wisconsin law, which requires all tip-ups to be attended. For those stuck in the 1980s techworld, Baddeley is working on a pager version.
