Oklahoma Youth Baseball Team Raffles Off Rifle

An Oklahoma youth baseball team is foregoing the traditional candy bar sale to raise money for equipment and travel. Instead, the Elk City Outlaws are raffling off $20 chances at an AR-style rifle, according to news reports. But not everyone in Elk City thinks the raffle is a good idea.

As one commenter wrote in the local news channel: "Why in the world would you have 6, 7, 8 and 9 year olds selling raffle tickets for an assault rifle?"

"This is western Oklahoma. There's a lot of people that carry guns out here and are proud of their guns," Outlaws Coach Denny Geno told kfor.com.

Despite the criticism, the raffle has proved very popular. Geno said the team will donate some of the extra money it raises to help a local needy family.
