An onlooker filmed a few good Samaritans in southwest Montana saving a cow elk last weekend after it traveled onto Hebgen Lake’s thin ice, fell through, and couldn’t escape.

Using some ropes, ladders and harnesses, the men were able to disperse their weight over the ice, reach the struggling elk, and eventually drag it toward shore, reports. Once the animal regained its balance, it turned and ran back onto the thin ice instead of heading to the nearby woods. Fortunately, the men were able to corral the animal again and usher it in a safer direction., Longview, Jacksonville, Texas | ETX News
