Two timber wolves recently escaped from captivity in Robertsville, Mo., according to Franklin County Police.
A local homeowner shot and killed one of the animals Monday after finding it inside his sheep pen. The remaining timber wolf, which is estimated to weigh between 100 and 150 pounds, is being sought out by local police and residents.
"The owner said they were skittish, they weren't very violent toward him, but once they get out into the wild, obviously they're going to get hungry," Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke told news station KMOX St. Louis. "They're unpredictable; you don't know what they're gonna do."
