Oregon Teenagers Accused of Off-Season Elk Shooting Spree

A month-long investigation by the Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division into the unlawful killing of four elk in rural Clatsop County led to four teenage boys facing multiple wildlife crime charges….

The investigation revealed that on April 9 four Astoria High School students armed with two firearms were camping on Oregon State Forestry property in rural Clatsop County. During their camping trip, the four teenage boys went hunting. One of them fired a rifle at a large herd of elk, followed by another firing a shotgun at an injured elk from a close distance. A total of four elk were killed, one of which was a pregnant cow. A small portion of the elk meat was taken, leaving the remainder to waste, OSP said._
