Country music star Blake Shelton snagged more than gold records recently when he reeled in a 40 lb. lake record paddlefish in Oklahoma.

From the story in the Oklahoman:

_Oklahoma country music star Blake Shelton caught Monday a 40-pound paddlefish that is the new lake record for Hudson Lake in northeastern Oklahoma, reports. Just a few days ago, the state Wildlife Department lowered the miniumum weight requirements for paddlefish lake records from 60 to 40 pounds to increase the opportunities for lake records.

Shelton, who was born and bred in Ada and now lives in Tishomingo, was fishing Monday below Hudson Lake with members of his band and his girlfriend, fellow country star Miranda Lambert. Everyone caught at least one fish, and all of the spoonbills were released. Shelton and Lambert’s paddlefish adventure likely will be shown on a future episode of “Outdoor Oklahoma,” Ed reports._
