A Little New-Age Love for Trotliners
SHARE

In the last few years it seems many young, hip filmmakers are popping up in the fishing industry. But sexy sells, and most of these guys and gals focus their camera lenses on leaping tarpon, slurping trout, and beach-running roosterfish in far-flung locations. Trotlining isn’t exactly sexy, but the practice is part of America’s fishing history, and those that do it are as passionate as the most hardcore fly guy. I found this short documentary on one of the last trotliners in Iowa. It’s touching…seriously. And I give credit to filmmaker Adam Farrell for studying old, beat-up trotlines over brightly-colored fly lines for a change.
