Next week, my wife Ellie and I are headed to New Orleans for a little fishing in the marsh with good friend Gregg Arnold. Since my casting abilities are suspect to begin with and my teaching acumen even worse I thought we’d hit up local fly shop owner Bill Lutchen to give Ellie a little help with punching a bit more line out in the salt.

Bill owns Front Range Anglers here in Boulder and is an FFF certified casting instructor. In this short clip Bill shows Ellie the importance of waiting just a bit before you start the forward portion of your double haul. A small thing for sure, but it made me re-examine my casting stroke and had Ellie casting twice as far as she could before the lesson.
