The Definition of Insanity

I once heard that “a letter to the editor is the first sign of insanity.” I don’t know who said that, but having read my fair share, I’d have to agree. I think commenting on blogs is probably right up there also. Of course, posting regularly on a flyfishing blog (meaning, doing what I do) is a dead-ringer for being more than a tad off your wicket… a few deuces short of a full deck, so to speak.
But my favorite “insanity” definition comes from none other than the great Albert Einstein:
“Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.”
This is my favorite, because it seems to me that one of the great minds in human history, the father of the Theory of Relativity… essentially described the essence of flyfishing in one line. Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.
In other words, we’re all nuts. Have a nice weekend.
