Typically my partner in fishing crime, a.k.a. Kirk Deeter, calls me in early spring and gleefully reports on all the insane work/fishing trips he’s got planned for the coming season. Not that I’m complaining about what I get to partake in, but Mr. Deeter is on a whole other level. Take for instance the film below called “The Kodiak Project” by the boys at LDR media.

Kirk, along with friends Conway Bowman and Chris Santella, “head up to Kodiak Island, Alaska to fish a legendary river that’s a bit like a unicorn – everyone has heard about it, but no one seems to have seen it, been there or fished its shallow waters.” The three spent a week fishing out of Kodiak Legends Lodge for the 11,000 strong steelhead run on the Karluk river last fall. Thanks for the invite guys…

After watching this I wiped the drool off my face, and swore up and down I would be on the next crazy exotic trip Deeter gets invited on. Looks like I might have gotten my wish. Stay tuned as Deeter and I plan for our upcoming trip to… …northern Michigan. Scoff you might, but from what I hear this is one seriously unique fishery.

Enjoy the Video.
