width=500 Make no mistake about it, winter has reached full bore. For a month now, the temperatures outside my house have hovered in the single digits. Still, I’m already looking forward to spring. There’s a long wait ahead, however, so I’ll have to find something else to occupy my time and stave off the dreaded cabin fever. I have a few things in mind. For starters, I really enjoy tying flies, and winter is the perfect time to restock my supply. I’ve already purchased a fresh supply of hooks and other materials and plan on spending many, many hours at my desk whipping up some patterns to fool next year’s trout, bass, carp, and anything else I can find that swims. But I’m curious what everyone else does during the “off” season? Do we have any ice fishermen? Anyone chasing small game or birds? What about inside jobs? I’ve been thinking about getting into rod building and would love some first-hand advice if anyone has ever done it before. —Ben
